Valuable Lesson

In the summer of 2003, my younger brother, Brendan, got a gash in his knee while swimming in a lake in Wisconsin. We were on our annual camping trip and it was the first day that we had been there. It was so deep that you could see his knee cap. We had to take him to the hospital there, and he got some temporary stitches. It was very painful for him throughout the rest of the trip and when we got back to Peoria we took him to St. Francis where we found that he had a rare infection in his leg. As a result he had to have a couple surgeries and was in intensive care for two weeks. He was only in third grade and was a very rough time for our whole family. Meanwhile, my two sisters and I stayed at my grandparents house and made visits to the hospital as often as we could. Brendan is completely fine now, with the exeption of a long scar on his leg. This taught me the importance of family and how quickly your life can change.

Report Card

I am surprised at how fast the first quarter of the year has gone by already. I think that my report card will be good but the grades in some of my classes have dropped in the last week, including in this class, so I need to get those all up. This year, overall, I have a pretty easy schedule and it hasn't been too tough to keep the grades up, but recently I have been very busy and I think they have suffered some what due to that.

Peoria Logo

I visited www.peorialogo.com tonight and voted for the logo that was my favorite. I don't know what the current logo looks like but I'm glad that Peoria is changing theirs because change is good. I chose the logo that had a road going through a city with different bright colors like green, blue, and yellow. I liked this logo because it caught my eye and it was very colorful. I think that this would be a good logo for our city becasue it is a good representation and may give others a positive attitude towards the city if it is unfamiliar to them.

Favorite Halloween Costume

My favorite Halloween costume was when I was a siamese twin with my actual twin, Katie. We did this in 8th grade. My great aunt sewed a very big sweatshirt together and put some Halloween logo on it. It was a really fun idea, and a lot of our friends tried it on and wore it around too. We went trick or treating with some of our friends on Halloween in our old neighborhood. After one of the houses there was a steep hill that I couldn't see because it was so dark, and I fell down it dragging Katie down with me. We lost all our candy, but it was pretty funny.

iphoto project

When I saw that we had to do this iphoto project, I was not thinking it was going to be as fun as it actually has been. I have almost all of my pictures picked out, and I should be able to finish it if the pictures are still saved on the macs when I get to class tomorrow. Today our class had a lot of problems with that and many people had to start over, so if I were you I would try and work at the same computer everyday and save anything important onto your flash drive. I hope we get to do fun projects like this more often. (maggie rothan)
